ReplyDeleteI have 45 marbles most of them I found in my house or in my garden. My house is 150 yrs.old and was once a stage coach stop then a train depot. I compare this place to an archeological dig. I played marbles as a child but that's the extent of my knowledge. What's the best way to identify them?

ReplyDeleteI have my dads agates. I believe 7 of them, my great grandfather was from Germany. My dad even won a state championship when he was a boy. I started playing marbles at 5 years old. These agates were never played with except a small bulls eye that he used. He treasured them. How do I find out what their value is.

ReplyDeleteI have the lemonade marble
ReplyDeleteMy mom found a bag of marbles, made from actual marble while going through some stuff (we think it likely came from one of the grandparents' estates when they passed). They are rather heavy, especially in comparison to glass ones!
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about marbles (beyond what I've just found online this evening) and am having a hard time finding much info, or even know where to start looking. My grandfather was a POW in Germany during WWII, and worked in a library there. It is possible he brought them back.
I know the original marble was made in Germany in the early 1800's, and made from marble (hence the namesake).
I am curious as to where these might have come from or when. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Wendy
